The Brew City Blades D Team's first season is over.
The team did not make the playoffs and had a spotty record: with only a few wins, a number of ties, and a larger number of losses. However, the team's performance and improvement over the course of the season was aptly exemplified in the results of the two tournaments that they participated in this year.
In the D Team's first tournament, at the beginning of the season, they lost all the games they played in, and failed to score any goals. In their last tournament (That Dam Tournament in Beaver Dam, WI the weekend of March 20th and 21st) they tied two games and managed to score nine goals.
Each game was played down to the wire and the only game they lost was by one point. This was against a team which had beaten them all season, and many times in those matchups they were beaten by a large margin.
The ladies on this team played all season with a great deal of heart. Skills improved across the board, and many of the ladies, esepecially the first time players, learned a great deal about the game of hockey. The team was supportive and the locker room was always a lot of fun.
This first season has been a time of growth for the D Team, and hopefully they will be able to shine in their next season.
